Skin Redness and Rosacea

Redness and rosacea

Rosacea is a common anti-inflammatory skin condition that is defined by redness in the skin, particularly on the nose, chin or cheeks. Symptoms display as persistent flushing of the face, small visible blood vessels on the face and inflammatory papules that can leave small scars after healing. It is estimated that 415 million people worldwide are affected by rosacea, with it being most prevalent between the ages of 30-50. There are many factors that can trigger redness and rosacea, including external triggers such as UV radiation, harsh weather conditions, exercise, spicy food or alcohol, as well as stress and genetics. When the skin’s barrier function is compromised, it can lead to increased inflammation, resulting in redness, flushing and discomfort. The underlying cause of Rosacea is a dysregulation of the movement processes in the blood vessels, leading to increased blood flow under the skin and visible signs of the reddened skin. Many people with redness and rosacea struggle to find suitable products that do not worsen their symptoms.

Sebamed soap-free and alkali-free products are dermatologically and clinically tested to restore the acid mantle and increase the resilience of the skin. It is important to use moisturising products with a pH value of 5.5 and a low oil content so that the skin is not irritated further.

Please note that all sebamed products can safely be used if you suffer with skin redness and rosacea, however, it is dermatologically recommended to use the products listed below as a supportive therapy for skin redness and rosacea to help manage symptoms.
