Cracked Heels & Calloused Feet

Cracked heels and calloused feet are two common conditions that can occur when the skin on the feet becomes excessively dry and thickened.

Cracked heels, also known as heel fissures, are characterized by the formation of deep, painful cracks in the skin around the heels. These cracks can be caused by a number of factors, including prolonged standing, walking barefoot on hard surfaces, and wearing open-back shoes that allow the heel to slide around.

Calloused feet, on the other hand, occur when the skin on the soles of the feet becomes thick and hard. This is usually due to repeated pressure or friction on the feet, often from standing or walking for long periods of time, or from wearing poorly-fitting shoes. Callouses can also form on the toes or sides of the feet, and can be quite painful if they become too thick.
